Everything we know about the standoff that shut down part of I-40

Section of I-40 in Fayette County was shut down Thursday evening owing to law enforcement action, according to the Tennessee Freeway Patrol.

The Tennessee Freeway Patrol closed all eastbound lanes of the interstate near exit 42 blocked. Which is close to Somerville.

Online video shared with FOX13 from motorists trapped in targeted visitors demonstrates law enforcement encompassing a white pickup truck. These motorists reported that authorities ended up yelling at a person named Frank to put a gun down and arrive out of that truck with his arms up.

In the video clip, it appears that authorities were blocking westbound visitors on I-40 in the area as effectively.

A different driver told FOX13 they heard regulation enforcement say to the man in the truck “Come on out. Let us assist you.”

The incident that led to the interstate closure took place all around 6:30 p.m., in accordance to THP.

Some drivers who have been stuck in website traffic described that they listened to authorities telling the male, “It’s only a stolen motor vehicle.”

When FOX13′s Mandy Hrach created the scene, she saw a helicopter circling the place.

The exit ramp and both shoulders of that portion of the interstate were also closed, THP stated.
